Slipway

The slipway at Bristol Marina is reputed to be one of the finest in the country. Non-tidal, wide concrete with a 1 in 6 gradient throughout and a maximum depth of 1.5m. Launching fee includes launching, parking for car and trailer, river and harbour fees to Hanham Lock (about 8 miles upstream of Bristol) and locking fees giving access to the tidal River Avon and Bristol Channel.

The surface is concrete with an overall width of 15m, and a maximum depth of water at the outer end of 1.5m.

The maximum permitted dimensions of craft are 6 meters length and 1 meter draught, use of the slipway for launch or recovery of any vessel having a greater dimension must apply for permission to the marina office. Slipway users must purchase a 24 hour, 48 hour, 7 day or 15 day licence from the marina office before launching, unless holding an annual City Docks licence. Use of the slipway requires that you show your driving licence for the purpose of identification.

Insurance

Owners of vessels not having an insurance policy for third party risks giving an indemnity of at least £500,000 must pay a sum additional to the standard charges of £0.45 in the case of 24 hour licences and £0.75 for 48 hour licences, for third party only insurance.

Additional Information

Please do not moor your boat to the west side pontoon (nearest the flats) as this is for the use of the rowing club.

The 'RED' markers denote the end of the concrete slipway, don't allow your trailer to go beyond that point.

Whilst in the vicinity of the slipway, please don't run your engine longer than is absolutely necessary, so that residents are not troubled with exhaust fumes and noise.

Car and trailer parking is at your own risk, owners should ensure that all necessary security precautions are taken.

The use of the slipway and marina premises is under the direct control of Bristol Marina management and any direction by marina staff must be aheard to. Navigation in the Bristol City Docks is under the control of the harbour master and subject to Bristol city council by laws. Navigation beyond Hanham lock is under the control of British waterways.
